Vallejo, California, Digital Communications and Marketing Specialist Requisition ID: 2023-9328 Position Type: Full-Time Schedule Shift: Day Hours Per Week: 38 Travel: None Category: Communications Overview Touro University California (TUC) is currently recruiting for an experienced Digital Communications and Marketing Specialist to join the Communications team in the Advancement Department. Reporting directly to the AVP of Advancement and working closely with the Director of Communications, this position is responsible for overseeing TUC’s social media platforms. This includes updating, creating, editing, and improving posts with high-quality content that can be placed across various web and other digital properties. This position ensures compliance with university brand standards in all initiatives involving communications, marketing, and public activities. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and able to independently write and edit content for all social media platforms, including e-newsletters and website. This position also works collaboratively with various campus members to collect data and information to develop materials for posting, including but not limited to project activities on/off campus. Responsibilities Work as an integral member of the Communications team to develop, seek out, and update social media content for the recruitment and retention of current and prospective TUC students. Monitor brands social networks, collecting feedback from audiences and evaluating outcomes. Create comprehensive plans for social media engagement, including identifying social media sites preferred by target audiences, engaging types of posts, and peak engagement posting times. Interact and engage with social media outlets (alums, partners, professional organizations, etc.) that apply and promote the TUC Mission and Values. Produce and/or coordinate the design and production of digital assets, including web copy, graphics, video, and photographic assets for strategic use in the Universitys digital communication channels. Partner with TUC programs and other campus partners to achieve program goals, source content, and ensure coordination. Explore innovative digital storytelling techniques that meet TUCs marketing and communications goals. Recommend opportunities for improving user experience, usability, and audience conversations. Ensure alignment with TUCs mission, strategies, objectives, and brand guidelines across all social media platforms and content. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Expertise in creating, acquiring, and maintaining SEO-rich content for social media properties. Exceptional writing, copy editing, and proofreading skills with an eye for detail. Knowledge of and experience designing and optimizing content for the web and digital communication channels. Strong understanding of the basic principles of brand marketing and communications. Ability to use graphic design tools and software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign). Ability to work independently and as part of a team, preferably in an academic environment. Ability to conduct interviews for story content. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. On campus presence required. EDUCATION Bachelors degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, or an appropriate field. Three years experience developing and managing content for social media platforms. Experience creating online content in the form of web/social media copy, video, infographics, and/or photographs.
